The CherryT Ball Drop is an assumed name of The Festival Foundation, a 501(c)3 that will hold an annual New Year's Eve celebration. Funds raised through the CherryT Ball Drop supports local charities.

What does "CherryT" mean?

Since we are located in the cherry capital of the world, drop a larger cherry from the sky and give back to charities, CherryT is a fun play on words that represent this event and the local area.

How did the CherryT Ball Drop get started?

In 2008, a small group of Traverse City area residents got together and devised a way celebrate New Years Eve and give back to the community at the same time. In 2018, CherryT Board of Directors turned over the event to the Festival Foundation. A committee was then formed of former CherryT volunteers and many new volunteers from the Festival Foundation to work in conjuction to continue the great tradition that was started years ago!

How much money has the CherryT Ball Drop raised?

The CherryT Ball Drop has raised nearly $127,000 to date for local nonprofits. Including $16,496 in 2022/2023 for Goodwill Northern Michigan and Northwest Food Coalition!

What is the annual attendance?

Unofficially, it is estimated that between 8,000 and 12,000 people attend this event.
